Did you know that symptoms of heart disease in women are different than in men?

For example, signs that belong primarily to women include:

  • an abrupt change in the way she feels
  • a sense of impending doom
  • depression
  • indigestion or GI tract “fullness” that she feels she could get rid of if she could “just burp”

Dr. Stephen Sinatra suggests women have the following heart disease “risk factors” checked by their doctor:Risk Factors for Womens Heart Disease

  • Homocysteine

  • oxidized LDL

  • Fibrinogen

  • Lp(a)

  • CRP

  • serum ferritin

Read Heart Sense for Women for a fascinating discussion by Dr. Sinatra of women’s particular patterns, and learn more about health, wellness, and the #StateOfWomen by following the discussions and lectures today and tomorrow. You can view the the HHS live streaming webcasts today and tomorrow, take the pledge, and get involved and find an event or get in the discussion today using both event hashtags #HHSStateOfWomen and #StateOfWomen.
